It depends on the volume of the gold that is plated on the jewelry, but when an item is electro plated, the plating material is usually very thin - less than 0.01mm - so there is hardly any volume of gold. So even though gold is expensive, a gold-plated item is worth just a few pence (cents) more than the item would be if it did not have the gold.
This is ok if you want to buy inexpensive jewelry, where the main thing is whether it looks good, but you won't be able to sell it for any money.
Not much. 925 is sterling silver, so the "gold" ring must be plated.
sure why not i think maybe.

Anything faberge piece marked "Franklin Mint" is only worth about 1/2 of what you paid for it........
If you want to know if a piece of jewelry is real, take it to a jeweler. All that a marking on it really tells you is that someone stamped a marking onto it.

It is worth at least the gold amount in the ring, which shall be about 58.5% of fine gold. If you have 10 grams ring, that would be 5.85 grams × US $40.61 (gold price per gram on 21st June 2010) = US $237. But you would get less in the jewelry or pawn shop.
