Is hand basting hard to master?

In: Sewing

Answer

Hand basting is just a stitch that holds a project together prior to permanent sewing. Just take longer stitches and make certain that they can be removed easily.

I wanted to add that hand basting has got to be the easiest stitch there is. Depending on the project, each stitch is usually about .5 to 1 inch in length. Hand basting is most commonly done to hold a project (as previously mentioned) together, but more specifically it is used to hold fabric together until it is permanently sewn together and is then removed. Hand basting is also used to gather fabric in order to create ruffles.
