Is having a left atrial abnormality an automatic death sentence?

Supervised by Itamar Medical

Answer

Of course not! No way!

You need to find out the reason why you have the abnormality (is it genetic? damage to the heart?). Then you can work out what is the best way to manage your condition.

A doctor can tell you more in depth.

Only if it's mitral valve failure. That can cause many things from which you could die of if not fixed by surgical procedure. Left heart failure is FATAL.
