Is human evolution convergent evolution?

Answer:
All humans (Homo sapiens sapiens) are closer genetically than two gorillas i the same forest, because we have very little genetic diversity compared with most other species. Different interpretations have been made of this fact, but the correct one seems to be that we have always naturally had a very low population density over the last few houndred thousand years at least.

There was a competing theory to the "Out of Africa" theory until very recently, the multi-regional hypothesis, which claimed that several migrations out of Africa were made by various members of the genus Homo, and at least a few of these independently turned into modern man. Of course we no longer accept this because of the mathematical impossibility of it given the above (our extreme lack of genetic diversity).

You question is a little ambiguous, so I have tried to answer in the two ways I feel that it could be interpreted. But if you can clarify I would be happy to give you a more detailed answer.
