Yes- 1) Driving on empty allows condensation to build up in fuel 2) Electric fuel pump in tank uses existing fuel as a coolant and lucricant for the fuel pump 3) There is a chance to pick up dirt and sludge at the bottom of tank ruining fuel pump and sucking dirt throught the fuel system
