If you are ejaculating and you hold the semen in, yes it can cause some problems. It is called retrograde ejaculation and can cause infertility as you damage the muscles and valves that are supposed to direct the semen out of the penis and not up into the bladder.

If you are stopping stimulation to the penis just before you ejaculate in order to prolong the time before ejaculation, then there is nothing wrong with that, and is actually what we tell men with premature ejaculation to do in order to build up their stamina.

Preventing ejaculation by applying pressure to the urethra is not harmful. Although, it should be recognized that nearly any repetitive behavior can cause harm when excessive. Under some circumstances, the fluid pressures from the orgasmic release may force semen past one's urinary sphincter into the bladder (also not harmful).

Let's err on the side of caution and not do this. It is not an effective method of Birth Control, and won't prevent the transmission of STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections). Take care of your prostate and don't abuse it; it's already guaranteed to be the first part of you that wears out completely. Don't press your luck.

I assume you hold it in by squeezing your penis. If you do it on the underneath side, this blocks the nerve impulses and will delay climax. Doing this shouldn't have any harmful affect and will probably help you have longer staying time when you have sex with a partner. I've done it off and on for years and haven't seen any harm from it. With practice, you can have 3 or 4 ejaculations in the same session.
