There is the potential of danger having a running vehicle with its hot exhaust and even hotter catalytic converter around flammable vapors. Granted it does not get much cooler while you are pumping but there is a lot of electrical current running in the vehicle at the same time. The fuel fill tube is almost always in close proximity to the exhaust pipe, and in the event of an overflow raw fuel could run right on it.

better be safe than sorry.

Can diesel in your gas tank ruin the engine?

No, the engine will just not run or run poorly and smoke depending on how much diesel is in the tank. If you put very little just keep driving and fill the tank up with gas when you have 1/2 tank. If you put allot and the engine will not run then you will need to drain the tank, replace the fuel filter, blow out the lines, and fill the tank with gas.

What causes a Chevy 305 radiator recovery tank to boil while the engine is running at a normal temp?

It could be low on water and stuff, fill it.

How do you refill radiator in a golf GL 1997?

You have to fill the overflow tank as the radiator does not have a fill cap. Run the engine as you fill the overflow tank but just up to the marks on the tank.

What do you do if you put gasoline in your diesel engine?

If you put gasoline in your diesel engine, first be sure to keep the engine turned off. If you have already started the engine, turn it off. Then, drain the fuel tank, remove and replace the fuel filter, and fill the tank with diesel. This should fix the problem.

Fuel pump was replaced now gas leaks with a fill up won't leak with half a tank?

If the gas isn't leaking while the engine is running and you have half a tank, then the problem is with the fuel tank itself. You either have a hole in the upper half of the tank, or the gasket for your fuel sending unit is leaking.

Constant water running in commode?

Does water in the reservoir circulate through radiator when engine runs?

No. When the engine is running coolant is heated and expands. Excess coolant then flows from the radiator to the expansion (overflow) tank. When the engine is shut down coolant cools and contracts drawing fluid back out of the tank to keep the radiator topped off.

Fuel tank capacity for 2003 Toyota camary?

Should be under capacities in your owners manual. You should fill up @ 1/4 tank or when the light comes on. If you run out, you take a chance of sucking up all the dirt in the bottom of the gas tank and the result is a poor running engine.

Where is the radiator cap on a 1998 Saturn sl2?

Technically, there is no fill cap on the radiator. To add coolant, open the overflow tank. It should be on the Passenger side fender, next to the windshield fluid tank. The coolant tank is pressurized when the engine is hot. Be very careful removing the cap to the coolant overflow if the engine has been running, since the scalding hot coolant can burn you.
