It really all depends on your age, health and lifestyle.
Generally speaking, women ovulate 14 - 18 days after the first date of their last menstrual period. If you were to have intercourse between days 14 and 18 then you are likely to conceive. However, a visit to the Gyno would be a good start if you are serious in starting a family, as regular Pap smears are a must and a check up to see if you have any internal problems such as: endometrosis, adhesions as these can play a part in infertility.
If you need assistance in pinpointing your ovulation, kits are available from the chemist and/or supermarket.
