Some women want a divorce, as they feel they cannot trust their husband anymore; and even those who are still unsure might temporarily change their number and even try to avoid being around when their husband is home. These women do this because seeing or talking to their husband just reminds them of what he did to their marriage. On the other hand, there are some women who decide to stay in the marriage and try to save it, but they may want to see a counselor-- either alone or along with their husband; and even if they stay married, the wife may take a long time to trust him again.
As for whether it is fair for a wife to change her number, is it fair for a husband to cheat? Most people would say it is not. To have a successful marriage requires honesty as well as caring. A man who cheats on his wife should not be surprised if she tries to hurt him the way he has hurt her. This may not be the best way to act, but it is certainly understandable under the circumstances.
