As I answered to another question regarding firearms, I believe it is a federal law that a convicted felon cannot legally own a firearm, as well as those convicted of misdemeanors for domestic violence.
Added: I believe the first contributor misread the question - a BB gun is not a firearm. However - if you are on probation or parole I would strongly suggest you check with your PO about their view of this and, even if it is legal, I would make CERTAIN that it was not a "replica" or real-appearing one.
