There are many reasons for this. The dog may have some thing stuck in its throat. It may have a stomach ache. When dogs get a tummy ache they will eat grass to make them vomit to try and get rid of what is hurting their stomach.

∙ 12y agoI have two dogs and they gag if they eat to fast or they have somrhibg in there throht they can get it out as long as they are breathing. If they are gating and hunching over like they are going to puke I would call your vet one of my dogs has pankryantitus it is where when he eats anything fatty he gags and the fattyness eats away his pankryess. He is fine when he has not had any fatty food though so I would call your vet. If you don't maybe skipfeeding him or her there next meal because that us what we do I dontknow I might just take some of the food away.
