Yes, this can happen and dark blood is what they call "dead blood" meaning it's been caught somewhere in your female organs. This can also happen just before or after a period. However, I can't stress enough that anything you feel is abnormal while pregnant should be discussed with your doctor as soon as possible as you want to birth a healthy baby.

Don't get too stressed as I am sure things are OK, but please see your doctor and put your mind to rest.
