The PAP Smear specimen is obtained with a plastic or wooden spatula and a small brush. These tiny instruments scrape tissue from the cervix. This scraping may cause slight bleeding. Blood that is hours old may look brown.

I PRESUME YOU ARE NOT A TEAPOT, GO AND SEE YOUR DOCTOR STRAIGHT Away you could be in serious trouble if you don't Brown discharge at the beginning of your period or at the very end of your period is usually normal (I am NOT a medical professional). Any spotting or discharge at other times of the month may be a sign of a more serious problem. Please contact a health professional if that's the case.
It could be an STD or it could just be old blood if you're starting or ending your period(or if you missed a couple Birth Control pills)
