Is it ok to drink alcohol while taking Zoloft?

Answer:
I am currently on 100mg of zoloft and i drink either Friday or Saturday night pretty heavily (just one night a week) and to start off with it makes me get drunk ten times faster than before I was on the zoloft. I get more stupid and also pass out quicker and am very tired. It doesn't say not to take the two together my doc says it just intensifies the effect.

Answer

Not a good idea. It may cause some serious side-effects.
Whenever you are prescribed the anti depressant Zoloft your pharmacist should include a pamphlet esp. for your first dosage to explain alot of questions and inform you of any hazards etc. Never will your Dr or Pharmacist advise you to drink alcohol while taking Zoloft. Never, will any Dr say it's ok to combine the two, that it only intensifies the effect, if so, he should have his licence suspended or to be secure in the future, dump him. if you think its a quick high your probably right but for all the wrong reasons. This effect should be enough to warn you its unsafe and unpredictable. Eventually, if your lucky enough, you will overdose or your impairment to think, react, or get more stupid (as you put it) will have you or your loved ones in a position I hate to consider.
