If both parents are trait carriers the chances of them having a child WITH sickle cell is 4 to 1. Probability says, 1 will not carry the trait OR have sickle cell, 2 will be trait carriers and 1 will have it.

But Keep in mind that every time you have a child its like rolling dice. I have heard of people where all four kids have the disease. and i have 2 children with the disease and 1 that's normal.

Half their children will have sickle cell trait - the mother has a normal beta-globin allele and the beta-S (sickle) allele. Half her gametes therefore get the mutant allele, but all the gametes proiduced by the father have the normal allele, so half the children get two normal alleles, half get one of each type of allele

This condition is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern, which means both copies of the gene in each cell have mutations. The parents of an individual with an autosomal recessive condition each carry one copy of the mutated gene, but they typically do not show signs and symptoms of the condition. This is the genetic make up of the father. The mother has both mutated genes. The baby has a 50:50 chance to have sickle cell anemia like the mother but also to have just the trait like the father.

The baby will have either sickle cell anemia or sickle cell trait. The chances are 50/50 %.

No, both parents must have the recessive gene for it to become dominant.

What does AS and SS under blood group mean?

Under blood group, the letters AS and SS are used in reference to sickle cell disease. AC means that one is carrying the sickle cell disease gene while SS means that one has sickle cell disease.

How do you prevent getting sickle cell disease?

Sickle cell is a genetic disease. You are either born with it or you are not. The only way to 'prevent' it is for prospective parents to be genetically screened and avoid producing children with the disease.

Is Sickle cell anemia inherited?

This is inherited on the X chromoseome and is recessive. This means a female (who has XX chromosome pair) can only express the disease if she carries the trait on both chromosomes. This is because of the recessive nature of the gene. A male can only inherit the disease from his mother. This is he must have obtained his Y chromosome from his father so he obtains the X chromosome from his mother. A male cannot carry the gene without expressing it as he doesnt have another X chromosome to supress the recessive gene. ^ This answer is biologically incorrect because Sickle cell Anemia is actually autosomal recessive, not sex-linked recessive; this means that males and females are affected equally and it is NOT carried on the X chromosome. In order for the trait to show up in an individual, BOTH parents must be carriers of the disease (at least 1 sickle cell gene must be present).

Is sickle cell disease autosomal or x-linked or chromosomal?

Sickle cell is a sex-linked trait, If some one is a carrier than the trait is passed down on that chromosome.

What groups get sickle cell disease?

A person can only inherit sickle-cell genes if some of their ancestors came from certain regions in Africa where the inhabitants carry sickle-cell genes. A person with one sickle-cell gene has sickle-cell trait, a milder problem. If both father and mother pass on sickle-cell genes, the child, with two genes, will have sickle-cell disease.

How does sickle-cell trait differ from sickle-cell disease?

in sickle cell trait you don't actually have the disease. you are only able to pass the disease to your kids if you marry a person with sickle cell or that also has the trait. sickle cell disease is when you actually have the disease. you can pass it to your kids if you marry someone with the trait or the disease. if you marry someone without a trait or disease then your kids will most likely have the trait.

Is sickle cell anemia an deficiency disease?
