Is it possible for someone to lose 30 pounds in 3 months? |
[Edit] |
Losing 10 pounds a month is safe. Averaging around 1 to 2 half pounds a week is safe. I am a certified Personal Trainer for over 20 years. The thing to focus on is lifestyle. Many people lose weight only to put it back on. I would suggest reviewing your everyday routine and make a few adjustments and beware of diets and lose weight gimmicks, pills and supplements.
Answer
It certainly is possible, put probably not a healthy way of doing it. A healthy rate would result in about half that. And when you consider that a serious diet will result in as much as ten pounds of loss the first week as the water weight gets worked out, it is certainly within the realm of possiblity.
Answer
10 lbs. on a good diet is not a lot for one week. I lost over 40 lbs. of Weight Watchers and included exercise in my regime and did it faithfully. The average weight loss per week for a woman was 1 - 2 lbs. For a man it was 3 - 5 lbs. The second poster is correct in saying (and I believe in a person really heavy and out of shape) that losing the weight slowly and exercising is more benificial and thus less dangling of skin. Heavy people sometimes don't realize that when they lose weight they can have a lot of sagging and "extra skin." In many cases a good trainer can get you back into shape, but some people have is so bad (if they were grossly over-weight) they look towards surgery to remove this extra skin.
