Is it possible that a television that cuts off by itself has a bad regulator? |

Answer
Depends upon the age of the set and brand and other misc symptoms. But yes it could, usually something else though as a bad regulator would pose other symptoms. Does the pic flash a color with lines - bad tube, does it just go black - many electronic failures could cause, does it snap and pop - bad tube/ HV splitter/ HV arcing, etc.
