Sorry, it wouldn't let me discuss this so I'll have to answer it. The answer is "yes."
Whether the answer is actually posted would be more of a political question. Perhaps the question should be, "is the nicotinic acid that we get from tobacco actually good for us?" Of course this brings up more questions such as 1) in what quantity? 2) when? (studies have shown that smokers are less likely to suffer burn out. Sorry I don't remember where I read the study.
Yes, the tobacco plant contains more nicotine in it than most other plants.
Just as carrots contain more carrotene! All plants produce their own specific allelochemicals to ward off predators, to promote reproduction, etc. How safe or toxic is carrotene and the allelochemicals produced by all the other 'healthy' fruit and veg which we are encouraged to eat?
None whatsoever. 5 milligrams of Nicotine in its pure form is fatal to a human.

What Tobacco Control miserably fail to recognise is that any publicity is good publicity. The more they condemn smoking, the more it appeals to a large number of youths - the "forbidden fruit" effect. (But then, if Tobacco Control were actually effective, they would lose their easy, lucrative jobs for life!) The tobacco company is simply doing a bit of reverse psychology.
The Ozone.
Well, some might argue it is not the government's place to ban smoking, that it would violate the right to do what we want within limits. Another argument is banning smoking would have a negative effect on the economy-- tobacco companies are huge.
Chewing tobacco will have no effect with your voice whatsoever, unless of course you are speaking or singing with some in your mouth. Chewing tobacco does not ever go into your lungs or even near your vocal chords, unless of course you somehow inhale it.
