Is it possible to be a shaman and a Christian?

Of course. You are born a shaman, or medicine woman or man and you can be raised a Christian. They are not mutually exclusive. Being a Christian you believe Jesus is the Son of God (among many other things). If you are also a shaman, you simply understand more of God's world and the gifts He gave you.

The aspects of magic and sorcery that are used by Shamans would not be compatible with Christian beliefs. If the shaman were calling on God only for the power to heal, then there would be no problem. Strictly speaking. then, they would no longer be a traditional shaman.

Its best to study what God says about it and then you will know the truth not some wisdom from someone who does not know God or His Word. Witchcraft and every aspect of the occult are plainly condemned by God. But why is God so opposed to it? Because it is a counterfeit substitute for the power of God.

If people needed supernatural power in their lives, they should turn to God.

* God has done great miracles to prove His power. Magic is the occult substitute for miracles. It is an attempt to achieve supernatural events by spirit powers other than that of God.

* God has revealed His will and predicted the future in prophecy. Divination is the occult substitute for prophecy. It is an attempt to obtain supernatural knowledge by spirit powers other than the power of God.

Colossians 2:8-10 - Now that the Scriptures are complete, we are complete in Christ. God has provided in the Scriptures all the supernatural knowledge which we need or can ever receive with His approval. We have the record of miracles to confirm that message. God meets our daily needs in answer to prayer. To turn to the occult is to belittle our completeness in Christ and to seek supernatural help somewhere other than in God.

Acts 19:18-20 - When God's word prevails in the lives of people today, they renounce their involvement in magic. They remove and destroy all aspects of it in their lives.

The occult and the gospel of Christ cannot coexist in our lives. Either the occult will drive out our faithfulness to Christ, to our eternal condemnation, or else the gospel will drive out the occult to our salvation. Have you removed the occult from your life?

A:Shamen are healers of the spirit, mind and body. They do not use magic or sorcery. (wherever did that notion come from?) They do believe that all gifts come from God and use them as such. They have no relationship to the "occult" They do, however, believe that there is much to this world to understand and God gives them abilities to learn about His world. Prayers guide their lives in everything they do and they pray for guidance many, many times a day . However, shamen are accepting of other people's ways, if not their own, knowing God gives all of us our own paths.

As a young child my first memories were of, what I now know, as energy coming from the trees and the night sky. At 8yrs. old my first dream came true, crystal clear. Since my dream was about school I decided to share it with my classmates. I was too young to understand the response I would get. They teased and called me names for weeks. I learned my lesson well, I would deny that part of me for over 25yrs. During this time I tried to go to my Aunt's church looking for answers. However I was left wanting.My father was forced to go as a child , so he let me make my own choice. I was excited, it didn't last, I was not aware of the unwritten policies. The people there seemed to be more concerned with looking rightous than seeking the spirit of God.They were cold and judgemental. This really blurred my vision of Christians. There I was told without joining a church my soul is going to hell. My life hasn't been easy I needed to go to the Lord and got saved at 26yrs old without a church. Of course this makes me sad ,but, how do you join with all honesty and lie about what God gave me? We are all part of Him He has no limits so why must people like us have to hide.Feeling energy from the earth and seeing a peek of whats to come is only crime against God when you deny that the source is the one and only true God. The earth being used for His work is in the Bible. Jesus on earth marked by a star, a burning bush to communicate, flooding of the world and the plagues of Egypt. Being a Christian means you do not worship the things of the physical world. However, it is obvious that God has no problem using things from the earth to make His point. The good book has many ordinary people doing incridble things with power of the God. I am a Christian-shaman I believe in the Bible and humblely use my gifts for his work. Christianity is a set belief and religion you can't twist it to fist your own views it just doesn't work that way. Calling upon any power other than God is wrong. If you want to call yourself a "shaman" because God has given you a convicted spirit and the power of prayer, or maybe just a personality that warms peoples hearts giving them a healed, warm, or safe feeling then yea go ahead, you will just have to explain yourself everytime your reference it.

A shaman's duty is to heal the spirit and therefore heal the mind, Christianity is not against this, if anything its integral to the christian practice, there is nothing to be afraid of the earth like us is gods creation but it is neutral neither good nor bad its all in what u make of it, partaking in the elements is perfectly fine as long as its done in the christian context, god gave us this earth to use it there is no need for shame as long as u do his will, what is the sin in healing the broken spirit and drawing another to the sacred? clear cut shamanism is something u do with your religion not a religion, in some ways preists are like shaman concsder exorcism for example

Of course you can be a christian Shaman. Read the 1 and 2nd chapters of Jeremiah. It is very important to let the Bible teach you, and to test the spirits. God answers his people with peace, so everyone should pray for every option /choise in Jesus name and choose the one God´s peace is over, it may take several days.

But a Shaman has to deside to follow God or the other side. No shaman can serve two masters.

I am a shaman. It is better to understand your options not through other human but from within you directly from your father in heaven; God, as Christian does not have all answers such as where is heaven and where is Jesus and where is the kingdom of heaven. If you want to know, you have to become and allow god through you using your hand to help good poor suffering people on this earth. When he uses your body and hand to do these work, you will feel him and understand beyond the bible and you will know your place in heaven. I am a shaman and I know the way to heaven, to the kingdom of heaven and I know where Jesus is at. Do you? I don't learn from the bible, I am the bible because I do the hard work of those mentioned in the bible.
