Is it possible to be arrested in France for wearing a hijab since the law came into place?

In: Islam

Short Answer

No of course not! There isn't actually a law against wearing hijab in France.

However there is a law that bans all religious symbols from schools. This includes Jewish Kippahs, Sikh turbans large Christian crosses..and Muslim hijab. If a girl wears hijab in school she won't be arrested. She will just not be able to attend. She is then excluded from school after a process of 'mediation'. Muslim girls can attend private schools.
