There is no accurate way for a doctor or anyone else to say exactly how far along you are, unless you were keeping careful records of when your ovulation happened (and tested it with an ovulation kit) and when you had sex. The doctor's assessment is an educated guess based on the date of your last period, and on the size and development of your baby.
