No, with a Doppler stethoscope it can be heard at approx. 8-10 weeks in a thin woman.An ultrasound machine can see the fetal heart at 6-8 weeks depending on the qualiity of the machine. The fetal heart is way to small to feel early in the pregnancy, in fact, it cannot even be felt at full term.

∙ 14y agoyes you can hear the baby's heart beat or fetal sounds by the use of ultrasounds or stethoscope, but it's kinda hard to determine which is the mother's heart beat and the baby's heart beat so it's best to use ultrasounds as stated
A common diagnostic procedure, an ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to "echo," or bounce, off the body and create a picture. A special jelly is applied to the skin on the expectant mother's abdomen, and a wand-like instrument (called a transducer) is positioned over it. Sound waves are generated and reflected back to the transducer as electric impulses, which produce an image of the baby on a computer screen. The images seen on most two-dimensional ultrasounds are difficult for the untrained eye to decipher. What might look like a hand to an expectant parent might actually be a foot - which is why the images must be interpreted by a properly trained technician. A doctor will then view the report and make his or her own interpretations.
When used as they were to intended be used - in low power levels and for short periods of time by trained professionals such as sonographers, radiologists, and obstetricians - ultrasounds are a standard procedure used to:
- diagnose a pregnancy
- determine multiple pregnancies
- verify the age of the fetus
- detect birth defects and fetal movement
- evaluate the position of the placenta
- monitor the fetal growth and heartbeat
Usually performed between 18 and 20 weeks, an ultrasound may be done sooner or later and sometimes more than once.

∙ 14y agoYou cannot feel the actual heartbeat of the baby, but you can feel movements of the baby and LISTEN to the heartbeat. If you can actually 'feel' a heartbeat, chances are it is your own and is just easier to feel on your stomach than usual because it is stretched to accomodate the growing baby. Your baby could also be having hiccups in the womb which is what you could be feeling- my son had them frequently and it would seem like a heartbeat but it's only hiccups (their hearts beat almost twice as fast as our own so you can easily distinguish hiccups from heartbeat)
