Yes, it is possible to have them removed as long as the class was dropped under extreme unavoidable circumstances. In these cases they require valid proof (i.e doctor notes, funeral dates, etc.). At UNO they require you to file an appeal form explaining the circumstances and reasons for dropping the course. Just go to either your advisor or your college and ask them how to go about appealing a W.
