Is it possible to put a ford 2.3 4-cylinder motor in a ford courier when the courier originally had a mazda motor in it?In: Fuel and Engines |
[Edit] |
Answer
YES! it is very possible to put a 2.3 in a mazda-powered courier....and it fits really well! the main thing will be the wiring.....oh, and by the way, you need to put in a different transmission from a 2.3l courier/rangern since the trans won't intercgange.
may I reccommend at the same time pulling off the head, opening up the ports, opening up the tubes of the intake, put a weber progressive 2bbl, ( HERE"S A BIG SECRET---polish the tops of the pistons until they are like mirrors!!! You're conna have to trust me on that one.....but it's big time worth it!) then a nice exhaust header. ford motorsports has a nice chrome header that is emissions-legal, even in california! Don't forget a new timing belt....
I'll have to admit, my 1977 courier had a "wee bit" more stuff than that in it, not to mention about $400.00 in flow bench work done on the head....
the end result?
a little tire-scorcher that is plenty nutsy enough to handle whatever you can cram into the bed and more....and it will get great milage to boot!
And.....If I ever get my hands on the @#$(*&! that stole mine...I'll kill 'em!!
( sorry for losing it....there) Anyways, YES it will fit, but you need the engine mounts and trans.......
Have Fun
