Is it possible to swap a 3000 gt vr4 engine into the 2001 v6 eclipse and stratus rt v6?

I've got a simple answer to your question, the engines are the same, so if your looking for that horsepower that the vr4 has, swap out the exhaust with the turbos, and bolt it up to the 3.0 on your eclipse/stratus. Only thing you have to look out for is clearance of the bulkhead turbo, as both the eclipse and stratus don't have as much room as the 3000gts in that area. Otherwise everything bolts up nice and easy. If doing the swap a few other things you might want to grab is the intake, as its the same plenum, but having the boost pressure sensor instead of the MAF will help your computer deal with fuel calculations, also remember that running a parrallel turbo setup like the 3000 has you need to keep that in mind with your eclipse stratus v6, as the 3000 has beefier pistons, and all metal gaskets, if you run too much boost on your eclipse/stratus v6 you could blow the head gasket pretty easy, or detonate one of its cast pistons. They sell brass gasket replacements, and forged aluminum pistons for the eclipse/stratus v6, and I would suggest this is a must if you plan on pushing any boost up past 9psi. Last but not least, the vr4's all wheel drive and transmission also bolt right up to the v6 in the dodge mitsu's, so if you have the time or the knowhow, why not just make your stratus,eclipse, all wheel drive while your at it.

I'm not sure this answer is completely correct. The Engines are not the same. The vr4 has a dohc whereas the 00+ eclipse has a sohc. I'm looking into it, but from what I am hearing the twin turbo will not create as much power on a sohc as a big single turbo will.
