Is it related if you had liposuction 1 year ago on your thighs and buttocks and for the last months you have been experiencing chronic bladder burning cystitis? In: Liposuction |

Answer
I would think that each is unrelated. Lipo heals or has a final result in about 4 months to 1 year depending upon how much fat removed, where removed, following post op guidelines, patient's commitment to maintaining shape, etc.
A urinary tract infection or UTIs (pain or burning when urinating, ammonia-like smell to urine, lower abdomen pain) is usually caused by E. coli, a common bacteria. Because UTIs can progress to bladder and then kidney infections if untreated, you should consult a physician who can diagnose and perhaps prescribe a 3-day regimen of Bactrim (brand name of 2 drugs: sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim also known as SMZ-TMP). Meanwhile, to stop the pain associated the UTI, if you indeed have one, an over the counter local analgesic (pain reliever) specifically for UTI’s. The drug, phenazopyridine relieves urinary tract pain, burning, irritation, and discomfort, as well as urgent and frequent urination caused by UTI’s. It turns the urine bright orange and this can serve to let you know that it has reached the urinary tract (and is being excreted).
