Yes. It is safer than drinking unpasteurised milk.

Homogenisation ensures that the cream does not float to the top of the milk.

Pasteurisation is a heat process that kills all pathogens (harmful bacteria) and most spoilage bacteria.

Yes, but it is best to use organic milk. I've noticed that the awful smell that happens when milk turns sour is not there when organic milk gets old. It's definitely changed, but it is not noxious, and I would recommend using organic milk for that reason. I suspect there are some weird chemicals in commercial milk that make the milk go bad as it ages, and yogurt is just one of many cultures that grow in milk.

Is it safe to eat sour cream and chives when pregnant?

Sour cream, as in the delightfully tasty topping for baked potatoes, will not harm your baby while you're pregnant. Neither will cheese which is another cultured product or yogurt (another) or any of a number of other cultured products. Unpasteurised milk products should not be eaten while pregnant but it is quite safe to eat pasteurised products. Be careful about taking advice on a website. If you have a question like that, ask your doctor.
