The least 'safe' (safe = not getting pregnant) time to have intercourse is after your period ends, as your body is gearing up for ovulation. Since sperm can live for 5 days, having sex after a period can result in a pregnancy.

Without using Birth Control, the safest time is right before you expect your period or at the beginning of your period. However, since stress, illness, and other things can change when you ovulate, then using the rhythm method of birth control is not nearly as effective as using other forms of birth control, such as a condom, birth control pill, IUD, or depo-provera shot.

It depends on whether or not you are having sex with your husband. If so then yes. But if you are not married then you always need to use a condom. Considering you could get pregnant or contract a sexually transmitted disease, no.

YES. Perfectly safe, in fact, less chance of becoming pregnant (not 100% of course)

Also sex loosens up the tight muscles so it can actually make your period less painful. The only problem is that there could be a higher chance of infection if you know that you get overstretched/damaged during intercourse, and theres so much icky blood for sex...

If you want to avoid pregnancy, then you need to know when you ovulate to know when the 'safe' days are. But typically, 12 days before your period would not be safe, as the luteal phase (the time after you ovulate until your period begins) is 10 to 14 (or more) days long, for a normal cycle. Thus, 12 days may put you in your most fertile period.

It is possible to get pregnant at any time. 9 days before your period, you are very fertile. Make sure you use protection unless you are trying to get pregnant
