Edit: Betadine (Povidone Iodine) is another - less painful - alternative.
well actually, it burns so much because rubbing alcohol kills the cells around the open wound..it is desirable to some extent as it kills any infectious bacteria but it also kills your 'healthy bacteria' in the process. is not the best solution , but in emergencies it proves to be effective. using medicinal antiseptic solutions (though these are also alcohol based sometimes) is recommended instead.
It will burn.
Well i think you cant because...the alcohol may burn the wound and it will hurt like hell... Well i think you cant because...the alcohol may burn or damage the wound, but i still think it dosent make too much that zone because it still alcohol.
Q-tips and rubbing alcohol. Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol , thiers q-tips that are longer and more tightly wound, if you could find those they work better, open door and rub heads, rollers and mechanisims and allow it to dry.
People did that because it helped stop the wound rotting. Now people talk about it because it stings mightily.
You can use Witch Hazel, it looks just like Rubbing Alcohol without the burn.
No I do it all the time. It feels good
Rubbing alcohol is a very useful first aid product. It can be used for many different things. The shelf life of an open bottle of rubbing alcohol is usually a year, but check the use by date.
Never! It will sting like crazy. Never use anything on an open wound that you wouldn't use in your eye.
Rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl) is highly volatile -- it evaporates very quickly -- so while it's wet it will to some extent act as a bacteriocidal and bacteriostatic agent. But it won't do so for long. I will add that, if this gauze you speak of is attached to a human or animal, and is covering an open wound, you're likely to cause them a great deal of pain, and you won't effectively and completely sterilize the field. You're a lot better off changing the dressing and treating the wound.
The answer to this depends on two factors. First, the ratio of rubbing alcohol to water in the bath. The second would be if the person in the bath has any open sores that can allow the alcohol to enter the bloodstream. In low amounts and with no way for the alcohol to enter the body, the bath will be fine.
It will cause a very painful burning sensation, much the same as putting alcohol on an open wound. It will also kill germs, but may leave some harmful residue. If you've gotten gasoline in an open wound, I'd suggest gently, but thoroughly, cleaning it with soap and water.
Clean the edges of wound with alcohol, press the edges of wound together and apply drops of super glue over the edges.
