I was wondering the same thing. I'm a personal trainer and I know that it is not recommended to be in a supine (laying on the back) position after the first trimester. Does that mean sleeping on a side with support under belly?
It is recommended that you do NOT sleep on your back while you are pregnant, especially as you get farther along. The weight can put pressure on your intestines and major vessels (such as the aorta) which can cause other problems.
You shouldn't sleep on your back while pregnant. The weight of the uterus puts pressure on your circulatory system and that can make it hard for the baby to get the nutrients it needs. The best way to sleep is on your left side to ensure proper blood flow for you and the baby.
