Is it safe to use your credit card online?

Answer

With all of the things that you hear in the news, you might very well be nervous about using your credit card online. However, the fact of the matter is that if you’re careful about where you shop and who you trust your credit card info with, shopping with your credit card online is just as safe as shopping with it in a brick and mortar store.

When you do use your credit card online, make sure that you only use it on secure sites. You can tell if a site is secure by looking at the URL address. If it starts with https:// instead of http://, the site is secure.

Even if your credit card information should fall into the wrong hands, most credit card companies have fraud protection policies which limit your liability to pay for fraudulent charges. If charges that you didn’t authorize appear on your credit card statement, you can call your credit card company and dispute the charges.
