The father does. He carries both the x and y chromosomes and one or the other will determine the sex of the baby.

The thing is that if the chromosomes of mother dominates the chromosomes of father then they will have a girl n in the other fathers dominating case we will have a boy its a long thing how chromosomes dominate each other but they do .

Gender can also be influenced by outside factors, e.g. water supply. Liverpool changed water supply, and the proportion of boy babies increased.

Yes it is from the father that this comes but not at the level of a single gene. The genes that determine sex are to be found on the sex chromosomes, of which every person has two. They come in two types X and Y. Woman have an XX pair and Men have an XY pair. Thus as you can see the Y chromosome is that which makes the difference and this comes from the man.

Actually it is a sex chromosome. The male has two, a Y and an X. The female has two X chromosomes. The father gives either an X or a Y. The mother only one X. The child will have XY (a boy) or XX (a girl). So the father determines the sex of the baby.

The male/dad. The male/dad has two cells, if he passes on the X cell it's a girl. If he passes on the Y cell it's a boy. The female/mum has two X cells.
