No. Red cars have a higher frequency of accidents, and a higher possibility of getting a traffic violation, but I have never heard of a company charging more for insurance. If you have one that does, you should shop around for another company.

Not necessarily. Insurance rates are dependant on your driving record as well as your age, gender and even your credit. Generally speaking, owning an older "family" vehicle will have lower insurance rates.

Why would an insurance company want to know the size of the car engine?

In a case of some vehicles the choice of engines can be anywhere from 4 cylinder engines to 8 cylinder engines. This can determine the value of the vehicle as well as the performance of that vehicle. Higher valued cars will cost more to replace when a claim is made. Higher performance cars are shown to be in more accidents. Usually, those who choose to drive higher performance cars are riskier then those who choose to driver lower performance cars. This may not be true in your case, but overall.

Buying Car Insurance Direct Saves Money?

There are many brokers who sell car insurance from various companies and tell customers that they will get lower rates by having the company compare insurance rates for them, but this is usually not true. The companies who compare insurance rates are in business to make money, and the commission that the comparison company makes can usually be saved by customers who go directly to each car insurance company to get a quote. There are many variations between car insurance companies, so it is a good idea to compare the premium rates and coverage options offered by several different companies before purchasing an insurance policy.

Higher Coverage In Maine?

Maine is a state that is in the northern part of the country and has few drivers. The drivers that do reside in the state need car insurance, and they have the option of comparing rates with other insurance companies. There are over 45,000 miles of roads that drivers travel every day in Maine, and anything could happen at any time on those roads. The better drivers are protected with their insurance coverage, the less money they will have to spend out of their pocket if there is an accident. The average insurance premium for Maine residents is $835. This is much less than many of the other states in the country. One of the reasons for this is because there are not as many people in the state, and the coverage is set at a higher amount. Many of the cities have low insurance rates for drivers, but there are certain times of the year when insurance rates are somewhat higher because of weather conditions or because people are visiting the state. December and January are the two months that have the highest rates for drivers. The winter months can be brutal in Maine, and drivers are sometimes not too sure about hot to drive on the roads in the state. This is especially true for people who do not live in the state. May and November have the lowest insurance rates of the year. There could be a reason as to why the insurance rates are so low among drivers in Maine. The minimum amount of coverage that drivers have to carry is $50,000. Although this is much higher than some other states, it is a deterrent for drivers to not have an accident because if they do, their rates will increase. Medical payments for those involved in a car accident are included in the policy at a $1,000 limit. There must be someone at fault in a car accident so that the insurance company can cover the expenses of the people involved. Uninsured motorist protection must be added to any insurance policy at $50,000 for each person. This also includes drivers who are underinsured.
