In some areas of the world it is illegal. In some it is not. Right now in the U.S some areas have it banned and some don't. In Canada some provinces have it banned and some don't
No jailbreaking any type of Idevice is not illegal.
the purpose of jailbreaking an iPhone or iPod touch is to install applications that the apple app store refuses to sell. It also has to be done if you are attempting to unlock the iPhone from the AT&T network. All of these things are illegal, and void your warranty.
jailbreaking the ipod touch is legal. But if you use the tool that gives you all apps free it is illegal.
no, your phone will be the same except cydia will be installed
Jailbreaking an iPhone means that 3rd party applications can be installed on it (e.g.: apps from other developers then Apple).Unlocking an iPhone means that all SIM-cards can be used on it. (E.g.: Instead of in the USA AT&T, also the Dutch KPN, the English O2, and all other brands in all countries, as long as you have the SIM-card of that brand
Not at all! Even if you end up jacking up your phone you can always restore from iTunes!
Nothing. All it does it trash your iPod/iPhone and do you know what happened to mine... It stopped my iPod completely.
Not at all. Jailbreaking breaks down any restrictions implemented by apple. Basically, all it does is allows third party apps to access the flash memory. It will not slow it down at all.
"Jailbreaking" is hacking your iPhone so it will run any type of app, even those that are not approved by Apple. The process of jailbreaking was illegal until recently, but people have been doing it in order to fully customize their phones, run specific apps or unlock their iPhones so they can choose any GSM Network for service. Edit: First of all most jail breakers don't jailbreak to use any type of app. This is called pirating. As a matter of fact, a lot of jail breakers are against it. Jailbreaking will not allow you to unlock your phone...That must be done by your carrier. This is quoted from a website called jailbreakqa.com "What's the difference between jailbreaking and unlocking? Jailbreaking means removing restrictions in your device's default software so that it can run software not approved by Apple, such as extensions (tweaks) and other packages installable via Cydia. Carrier unlocking is the process that allows an iPhone to be used as a phone on other carriers that aren't supported, such as an AT&T iPhone being used for texting and calling on a T-Mobile plan with a T-Mobile SIM card. Jailbreaking does not automatically carrier unlock your device; they are different processes. See this guide to carrier unlocking options."
any type but its ILLEGAL!!! You can jailbreak all 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation iPod Touches running firmware version 3.1.2. A jailbreak for 3.1.3 is not yet available. It is not illegal. The only illegal side to jailbreaking is downloading cracked apps which you must usually pay for in the App Store. ____________ It is NOT illegal. While it voids all warranties, and the downloading and use of the paid applications is illegal, the act of jailbreaking is NOT illegal. That would be like saying that it's illegal to uninstall windows on your PC and load it up with Linux. Added by Mike Murray
it doesn't make all apps free, it allows you to download apps for free and install those on your ipod. the app has to be cracked to do it like this. you can find free cracked apps on lot's of sites.
Yes, "the courts have long recognized that copying software while reverse engineering is a fair use when done for purposes of fostering interoperability with independently created software." http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2009/02/apple-says-jailbreaking-illegal Jailbreaking does not load a torrent app or allow installation of pirated apps. Those services are a separate and illegal venture that are commonly linked with jailbreaking, thus giving jailbreak a bad name.
Nope, jailbreaking an iPod is completely legal. Even though it's a sketchy sounding phrase, all it means is changing the software on your device.
