Kelfex is not related to penicilliin. Although it functions in the same way, it is part of a group of antibiotics called Sulfers. Some people who are allergic to Penicillin and its derivatives, can sometimes be allergic to Kelfex and Sulfers.

∙ 14y agoNo, Keflex does not contain penicillin. It belongs to a class of antibiotics called cephalosporins. You should be aware that about 10% of patients who are penicillin allergic will also be allergic to cephalosporins as well. With oral medications it is usually only a minor reaction.
