No a Sgt is concerned a non-commissioned member of the army. A sgt is an average rank of a typical solider level, where a general is the highest rank in the army.
There are several types of Sgt's in the US Army - but never is any Sgt rank higher than a General.

∙ 13y agoThere is NO SUCH THING as a "General Major". A Sergeant Major is ENLISTED.. ANY officer Outranks him... even a butter bars 2nd Leutenant. However, you wont see many 2nd Lt's going after a CSM (Command SgtMaj).
A General is the TOP of the food chain - an Officer. He is above Army & Marine Colonels and Navy Captains (same rank). There are actually 5 General ranks.
SGT - Sergeant
SSGT - Staff Sgt
SFC - Sgt 1st Class
MSGT - Master Sgt
SGTMAJ - Sergeant Major
Then 4 Ranks of Warrant Officer..
WO1
WO2
WO3
WO4
Then you go into Commissioned Officer ranks up to O5 (Colonel, Navy Capt)
2nd Lt
1st Lt

Major

FLAG OFFICERS (Same as Admirals in the Navy)
