To answer this question, you must first answer the question:'What is time?'
Modern western man regards Time as 'linear'
(that is, it has a beginning and an end, a start and a finish)
However, there are other types of time as well:-
-Biological time
-Cyclical time
-Dynamical time
-Atomic time
It is important to realize that Time is another 'Dimension' : it is sometimes called the '4th dimension' following the 3 of Length, Width, and Height. From man's point of view, there are up to half a dozen ways of looking at time [some cultures do not recognize some types of time ]. From God's viewpoint, Time is another Dimension, and as such it does not have a start or finish ie it is not linear. Ask yourself,
-'How long is a piece of string?'
-'How long (or 'far') is infinity?'
-'How long is eternity?'
Man is material, can only measure things using his 5 senses, and has trouble understanding (let alone measuring) spiritual things. God is Spirit and has no trouble understanding time; (after all, He created it!)
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
1Co 2:9 But as it is written, "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard," nor has it entered into the heart of man, "the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
1Co 2:10 But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Co 2:11 For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of man within him? So also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
1Co 2:12 But we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit from God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God.
1Co 2:13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

but especially listen to the radio broadcasts by Chuck Missler at: http://www.khouse.org/6640_cat/technical/
titled "Stretching the Heavens - The Speed of Light and the Dilation of Time",
and "Beyond Perception - Particle Physics and the Boundaries of Reality".
His broadcasts are absolutely fantastic and mind-blowing, and are theologically and scripturally correct, and scientifically correct and up-to-date.
The answer to the question "Is man travelling through time from birth to death?" depends utterly on your viewpoint:
-From man's perspective, the answer is 'yes' , since that is all we know, but
- from God's perspective, the answer is 'no', since time is a created dimension that can be un-created, and God is outside of Time and Space.
