Indeed. The axiom "If it bleeds, it leads" stems from that same idea - news outlets are there as a business and, hence, to make money. Good news doesn't sell as well as horrible news, and will therefore not be reported as agressively. Then there is the whole political bias issue...yikes... NY Times v NY Post is an entertaining experiment in that.

"Letters to the Editor" is usually a section of an old style Paper News Paper. Most news paper web sites have a link or Email address for this purpose. If it is going snail mail address it to "Letters To The Editor" at the news paper mailing address.
