Nickel silver is a copper alloy...60% copper, 20% nickel, and 20% zinc. The name comes from its color and appearance. So....it is worth more as scrap metal than as a "precious metal". Sorry!
there are some questions you need to ask herself before your question can be answered: when was it made how long have you had it and is it rusty. so there's not enough information for me to answer...
The only nickels that ever contained any silver were the so-called "war nickels" minted from 1942 to 1945. They're distinguishable by the large mint mark over the dome of Monticello on the back....
