They both use the same narcotic medication, hydrocodone. The only difference is that Norco contains less acetaminophen (Tylenol) than the Vicodin formulations.
Some patients found they had a lot of stomach irritation with Vicodin, but if they were switched to Norco, they didn't have as much problem with that symptom because of the lower level of Tylenol.

∙ 10y agoQuantities of Hydrocodone & Acetaminophen are the difference. Between the two option I would say neither is better that the other.For the same level of Hydrocodone Vicodin has 175mg more of Acetaminophen than norco.
Talk with your doctor to decide what is best for you. Neither of the options work for me so I have have to use alternative methods to relieve pain, like large moist heating pad.

∙ 10y agoYes, it's just a differant name for it. Norco is 5-325 and Vicodin is 5-500 and contains more Tylenol. There are different strengths of Vicodin as well.
