Is northern Ireland separate from Ireland?

Answer:
Yes and no.
In 1920, a law was passed which made the six counties of Northern Ireland part of the UK, so they are now joined to the British government instead of the government in Dublin.
In saying that, many still regard themsleves as Irish and many want to become part of Ireland constitutionally again. The culture in the North is much the same as well.
