Is nutritional yeast different than other kinds of yeast?

In: Baking

Answer

nutritional yeast similar to brewer's yeast,is a nutritional supplement with vegans, excellent source of protein and vitamins low in fat and sodium.it's has a nutty, cheesy, creamy flavor. Nutritional yeast is different from yeast extract which has a very strong flavor and comes in the form of dark brown paste

Also, nutritional yeast, such as the brewer's yeast that you buy in health food stores, has been "de-activated". Therefore it can not be used in bread or wine making.
