yes...there are several different types of avitaminosis...diseases caused by a lack of vitamins.

kwasjiorkor is caused by a lack of protein

even a lack of fats can cause problems in the nervous system and absorption of vitamins

trace inorganic elements are also important: sodium for salt balance and the nervous system, iron sothat you don't become aneamic, potassium to prevent muscle cramps, calcium and phosphorous is needed to fight osteoperosis etc.

a balanced diet is very important for good health

it is not a disease, you can get it from eating one kind of food,and that food only,

for a long period of time. So its kind of like hunger only 10 times worse.

yes, malnutrition is an eating disorder. malnutrition refers to incomplete unbalanced nutrition. a balanced diet comprises of carbohydrates fats and proteins. deficiency or excess in any of these is malnutrition. so if we don't eat properly balanced diet we suffer from malnutrition.

Once your Immune sysytem is compromised- you fall prey to many infections for example- Vitamin related deficiencies can be- Avitaminosis, Scurvy, Rickets

Protien related- Kwashiorkar

Marasmus and other Gastro-intestinal disturbances.

Obesity is basically about eating too much, too many calories, causing you to become really fat.

Malnutrition is about not getting enough of all the different nutrients needed to keep you healthy.

Someone eating lots, but all of the same stuff, can get obese, and still be missing some of the substances needed to remain healthy.
