A peanut is a legume NOT a nut despite common misconceptions. That is why some, myself included, can be allergic to peanuts and not other nuts (cashews, almonds, pistachios, etc.)

Peanut and corn kernel are fruits. The full peanut is a fruit, just the part you eat is the cotyledon (or seed).
I think that a type of nut is either a walnut, or peanut because a walnut is the biggest of them all and a peanut is as small as a seed.
