Is pier one going out of business?

Pier One Imports is not going out of business! As a member of their team for a few years now, and in the business of home decor for many many years, I can honestly vouch that Pier One is going strong. Unfortunate for the demise of some of our competiters, (Linens N Things, Bombay, Dockside Imports, Z Gallerie "which closed alot of stores but is still in business") it has helped Pier Ones business. We offer great quality merchandise at a great value price. Our furniture is hierloom quality at a price much friendlier than the large furniture stores (Ashleys, Ethan Allen, Rooms to Go, etc)

One important thing to remember is that Pier One ALWAYS has a huge sale at the end of the main two seasons, winter and summer. Out with the old and in with the new, because trust me, we are getting tons of new great merchandise in. All major retailers do this, its called "end of season clearance". The reason it seems more apparent in the pier one stores, is because the closure of all of its "outlets", which is something Pier One tried but proved to be cost ineffective. Think about it, all the wasted man hours spent wrapping up glasses and dishes to be sent to the outlet, when those same man hours were spent unpacking them in the first place. Outlets are great for OVERSTOCK but not for clearance and alot of major retailers have found this out, I know first hand.

Pier One is going strong, and believe me we are far from going out of business. Of course it is only wise to close certain stores that absolutely not profitable at all. All retailers and companies do that, Demographics change between city, state, region, and division.

And to answer "what the hell happened in 2006 with Pier One?" lol. Yes the company decided to take a leap and change their image with the whole Loft 21 move (contemporary, urban, high end, sleek, "European" in design) well yeah, that's just not Pier One and they realized that after one fiscal year, (sure the merchandise sold well in certain markets i.e. New York, Toronto, Chicago, LA, Miami) but it was just not well "Pier One". They did alienate the Pier One customer! But we did realize our mistake and remedied it and went back to the eclectic import store it once was. And trust me we are getting those customers back. Pier One has never been synomous with "urban, sleek, contemporary, etc", we are eclectic, quirky, and forever THE PAPASAN STORE!

So stop by one of our stores and see what we got, alot of cool fun merchandise and alot of cool fun associates that truly want to help you.
