Definitely not in general! Potassium citrate is a salt of potassium with citric acid, an only moderately large organic molecule. "Potassium chelate" slightly ambiguous, but chelated "potassium ion" means a potassium ion that is bonded by at least two coordinate covalent bonds to a single molecule, usually an organic molecule with two functional groups. It is conceivable that citrate ions could form chelates with potassium ions, since they do have two functional groups, but the shortness of the citrate ions would seem to make it unlikely.

yes

Potassium citrate has many health benefits, including the ability to lower blood pressure--keeping muscles and nerves functioning properly--and maintaining electrolyte balance. Potassium citrate is a potassium chelate which occurs naturally in foods. That's unlike potassium salts, which must be added as supplements. Potassium citrate generally is higher in raw foods than in cooked ones.

I work in a supplement store and have had this question asked several times but only recently discovered its answer. A clue is that when you Google 'asporotate wiki,' there is no wiki page for it.

Solaray (Nutraceutical) markets several mineral supplements with the asporotate affix. Asporotate is always followed by the (tm) symbol so its a proprietary formulation. From the bottle label: "Potassium Asporotate(tm) supplement consists of Potassium which has been combined with aspartic acid, citric acid, and a special delactosed whey protein concentrate containing naturally occurring orotic acid. Each capsule contains potassium with all the other natural components producing a natural chelation process resulting in the formulation of a special complex containing Potassium Aspartate, Potassium Citrate, and Potassium Orotate. This product contains none of the yeast or soy commonly found in full range amino acid chelates."

So, potassium asporotate contains potassium citrate and other potassium salts.

No, they are different, potassium chloride is what you get when you react potassium and chlorine, and potassuim iodide is what you get when you mix potassium and iodine

Can potassium chloride be prepared from zinc and hydrogen chloride?

No, reacting zinc with hydrogen chloride will yield zinc chloride and hydrogen gas. Potassium chloride can be prepared by reacting potassium with hydrogen chloride or (more safely) potassium hydroxide with hydrogen chloride.
