Yes! It is better because when you run you face different grounds like when you run you run on sand (which is hard) and you run up and down hills when you go run at the park or some were were there is an open area you face those stuff. For the elliptical machine is just running in place and no facing sand or hills and that don't get you any better. I am in a cross country team!! I run hills and on sand and other hard stuff and by the way weather is one thing you don't run in different kinds of weather on an elliptical machine.
