By the early 1990s only two states still listed suicide as a crime, and these have since been amended. As of 2011, suicide is not listed as criminal anywhere in the USA but is still considered a common law crime for purposes of awarding monetary damages by the court in certain cases.
Actually, it is a very obscure issue, and of unknown legality. There are some sources stating it is illegal, however, I have yet to find a meritable source saying so. However, I have found well-known sources stating suicide is not illegal in the US.
Attempted suicide is illegal in all 50 states,,however suicide is completely legal in all 50 states no-one in the history of the USA legal system has been convicted of suicide because you can not arrest, prosecute, charge or imprison a dead person for a crime.
Only failed suicide attempts can be prosecuted under the law.
