yes it is haunted ive been there about 10 years ago my family went to this school and at that time you could go inside...this school is creepy...everyone went inside except for my younger sister and my baby daughter...my sister would not go in she stayed in the car and while she was in the car a little boy appeared in the front seat...the rest of my family were inside the school...i myself experienced am overwhelming sadness and i kept saying i am so sorry...i could feel there sadness it was amazing...i took pictures of the school that day and as yet have been able to find the roll of film i took...the swing sets were stiil there at this time and yes they would swing back and forth with no wind and yes you can hear the sound of kids playing and haveing a good time one min and the next you can hear screaming it does not happen every time you go so to experience it you have to go multiple times at multiple days...i have never experienced anything like it i want to go back but now you cant..i truly beleive this place is haunted and i actually think dont know but feel like this story is true and that the police are trying to cover it up...if you are lucky enough to get to go in and on the property and have an open mind..i garentee this school will make a beleiver out of you....
It is said that the school has a paranormal luster to it.
There have been stories but whether it has been investigated by any paranormal experts I have not heard.
In order to fully implement the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Amarillo Independent School District closed Summit Elementary so that it's students could be integrated into nearby schools thereby achieving a level of integration.
Unfortunatly, i don't know, but if you know where Dakoda Ridge High School, just drive east (away from the mountains) by Water's Edge and Shadow Ridge neighboorhoods and you'll see a small school. that's powderhorn elementary school. youll see a bigger school east of it, this school is Summit ridge middle school.
