Is the Bible fiction or nonfiction?

Answer:

Answer

The Bible is considered to be non-fiction and is invariably catalogued as such in libraries. This is true, whether or not it is judged to report historical events. Exactly the same logic applies to the scriptures of all recognised religions.

Answer

Read it. Then decide. Start with the book of John in the New Testament. It is the most important book you will ever read. or get your mum to read it.

Answer

There are many critics of the Bible. But don't be quick to listen to those who put down this precious gift, but who offer no hope for relieving the many problems that face this crisis riddled planet. How many of you have actually read it for yourselves? In beautiful simplicity it explains the origin of life. In terms that encompass the use of unfathomable dynamic energy, it starts out stating that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth." It then shows how the loving creator made the first human couple and put them in a beautiful paradise called Eden. Having the gift of perfect life and free will, God rightly tested them before granting them everlasting life. This letter from our loving Father explains that our first parents turned their back on God, choosing to do things their own way. This resulted in losing their perfection and passing on that imperfection to all their offspring with resulting sickness and death. The rest of the Bible is about how God will restore his original purpose of having the offspring of Adam and Eve live in happiness in a beautiful earth. The first prophecy at Genesis 3:15 shows that there would be a great struggle between 2 sides Satan and God and their followers or seed. Despite much suffering and pain, God has made arrangements to end all wickedness and restore the earth to those who are meek or teachable and love goodness. At great personal cost he sent his own first-born son to earth to teach us about him and give his life as a ransom to buy back what Adam lost. In the Bible are recorded accounts of men and women, some of whom such as Abraham, David, many kings of Israel and other nations even archaelogy confirms. These accounts give us examples good and bad so that we can learn what qualities are pleasing to God and result in his favor. The people places and events in the Bible are not ficticious. They are real. The values of honesty and morality and most of all love for God and one's fellow man are the most beneficial way of living. Additionally, the many prophecies that have come true are a most profound proof that this amazing book is indeed not from humans but that it is inspired by God.

Answer

Ask for Empirical proofs. Not Ideation, not hypotheses.

Answer

Over 4000 individual details of the Bible have been verified by archaeology. This is documented in a multi-volume work by archaeologist Dr. Clifford Wilson.

To some nothing will constitute proof even though these discoveries are in the museums of the world for all to see.

For many others the 'proof is in the eating' since Christians know Jesus Christ personally and know He is true to every word He has ever uttered.

Answer

A simple quotation is all that we need in order to know the answer to this Question. Yair Zakovitch, Dean of Humanities at Hebrew University is quoted as saying, "The thing to remember about the Bible is that the events and characters are just vehicles to convey messages. The biblical narrative was written to educate our young nation, not so much to tell us what really happened."
